The SMart Center is absolutely thrilled to officially (re)introduce Dr. Jenna to the team! Many of you already know Dr. Jenna, as she’s been involved at the SMart Center for many years. However, she is now joining the SMart Center full time! She will continue to see clients for therapy and perform testing/assessments for children/teens and adults. She will remain the Director of CommuniCamp counselors, co-lead/lead Parenting sessions at CommuniCamp while also becoming the director of our growing General Mental Health Counseling & Assessments department; (Counseling & Assessments (C&A) at the SMart Center!)

Dr. Jenna has experience working with children, teens and adults with a wide array of acute and chronic mental health challenges, such as anxiety, depression, autism, and learning challenges. She is certified in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule Second Edition (ADOS-2) and the Trauma Recovery Empowerment Model (TREM) – a weekly intervention for women with trauma –  in addition, she is trained in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) – an intervention to treat children between ages 2 and 7 with disruptive behavior problems.

Overall, Dr. Jenna’s academic training has been grounded in the use of Psychodynamic Therapy and Family Systems practice but also implements Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.

Reach for the stars and keep going until you are at the highest pinnacle. You should be a horse with blinders and ignore all the negative commentary along the way.

What do you hope to accomplish during your career in the Mental Health/Selective Mutism space?

I hope to help individuals and families reach their full potential and to supervise doctoral and master level clinicians so that they positively impact the individuals and families they work with.
