This webinar describes Selective Mutism (SM) as a social communication anxiety disorder, its diagnostic criteria and its relation to Social Anxiety, etiology, and presenting symptoms. Also presented are sensory challenges that commonly co-occur with Selective Mutism. This webinar explains the importance of diagnosing SM early as well as why the disorder is often misdiagnosed or mismanaged. Finally, Social Communication Anxiety Treatment^® (S-CAT^®) is introduced and the goals of treatment are described.
